Questions people ask

Before your first conversation

How do I know if counselling is right for me?

You can start with an enquiry. Thomas can discuss what you want support with, explain the counselling process and help you consider whether it is a suitable fit. There is no need to commit to ongoing sessions before that discussion.

What happens in a first appointment?

You can share what has been happening at a pace that feels manageable. Thomas will ask about your needs, goals and preferences, explain how sessions work and make room for your questions.

Do I need to complete a self-assessment first?

You can enquire without completing an online assessment. If a measure would be useful, discuss it with Thomas so you understand its purpose, privacy implications and how the result would be used.

Is counselling the same as coaching?

Counselling creates a therapeutic space for mental health, emotional wellbeing and personal challenges. Coaching focuses on development goals, decisions and action. Thomas offers both and can discuss the boundaries of each with you.

Resources and support

These options can support reflection or help you find timely care. Self-help tools do not replace individual advice.

The original page also links to an optional external DASS-21 self-check. It is not a diagnosis; check the third party site’s privacy terms before entering responses. If you need immediate help, see crisis support options.
